“By letting it go it all gets done. The world is won by those who let it go. But when you try and try, the world is beyond winning.” – Lao Tzu

In 2012, Mindfulness began to be discussed at the World Economic Forum in Davos. In January 2014, almost all the Davos events connected with Mindfulness were oversubscribed. Adopted by tech companies such as Apple, Google, and Twitter, Mindfulness is approaching a tipping point. Traditional companies, for example, McKinsey, Deutsche Bank, and Proctor & Gamble, and sectors such as car and energy, state-owned enterprises in China, UN organizations, governments, and the World Bank are also using Mindfulness to improve performance and wellbeing in their organisations.

According to Otto Scharmer, Chair of The Presencing Institute at MIT in the US, this trend is being driven by
• New technology: our hyperconnectivity and fast-paced lives have caused us to disconnect more and more from ourselves;
• New challenges: leaders are facing more situations that require them to access their self-awareness and emotional intelligence in order to be successful, and
• New science: the past ten years have brought breakthrough research in cognition science, particularly about the impact of mindfulness on brain plasticity. As cognition scientist Richard Davidson puts it: ‘Even a few hours of meditation can change the epigenetics of our brain.’
In this workshop, combining Mindfulness with the ground-breaking leadership tools of Theory U developed by Scharmer’s team at MIT, will

• enrich your personal skills in listening and observation,
• develop resistance to possible burnout and depression, and
• give you an unprecedented advantage in managing change, whether in your personal, community or business life.

This workshop will be held from 10.00 to 16.00 on Saturday, 7 June 2014. Participation is euro 20 for Impactory members and full-time students, euro 30 for non-members. You are welcome to bring your own lunch. Should you have further queries about the day, please contact Isabel – , or Maurizio – . No previous experience is necessary and we look forward to welcoming you to a life-changing day.
