Staying safe and protecting your privacy on the Internet
The course aims to raise your awareness about the safety and privacy online by explaining the risks involved, sharing the best practices and present tools to minimize those risks. We would like to encourage a more conscious and responsible online behaviour. It is composed of two parts:
- Safety
Here you will learn about some basic types of malware and attack methods, the risks when your computer is infected or your online identity stolen, and the best practices for protecting yourself from these. The instructions will cover antivirus software, firewalls, best practices for password management, and 2-factor authentication.
- Privacy
The second part will cover the basic concepts of online privacy, i.e. what kind of data is collected about the Internet users, how is it done, and what can it be used for. Next some of the best practices of controlling your digital footprint will be covered, incl. cookies, trackers and the DNT (Do Not Track), data encryption, and some anonymizing services.
